Square Enix has released more details on the job system found in Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age that sheds light on a new feature that should add a bit more variety to the remaster. The game’s Zodiac Job System will now allow for two job classes to be assigned to the same character. It was originally limited to just one in the International version that introduced the system.
According to RPG Site, once a character unlocks the “L Board Plus” on the License Board, they can then select a second job to either compliment a character’s current abilities or simply spice things up in interesting ways. Either way, this newest feature is and example of the kind of content players, especially returning ones, are wanting from a remaster if they are to invest in a decade-old game.
Another small but welcomed change coming to Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age is the addition of a real time, transparent map that can be pulled up by players while exploring. The game has also been recently revealed to include a newly recorded and arranged soundtrack, with eight entirely new tracks that include both boss and field music.
Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age was announced nearly a year ago and its appeal has, more or less, been about those outside of Japan finally getting their hands on the International version of the game for the first time. Since then, however, Square Enix has been steadily dangling some seriously tempting carrots in front of gamers to coax new and returning players into experiencing the remaster of one of the company’s less-appreciated Final Fantasy titles.
For one, the game has a nice selection of special editions that are sure to have collectors salivating. The variety in editions and pricing ensures that hardcore collectors will be satisfied, but also that casual gamers can still snag some cool extras without breaking the bank.
Aside from the content added from the International version, Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age will also include updated character models, cutscenes, and an option of Japanese or English voice actors. There will also be faster load times, an auto-save feature, and an improved turbo mode to help speed through tedious portions of the game. And, because it is a remaster, there will of course be improved visuals overall; and from what we’ve see, they look pretty darn great.
Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age will release on July 11, 2017 for PlayStation 4.
