Unfortunately, pre-orders are excluded from the minimum amount needed to be spent, but Final Fantasy 14 Online timecards are eligible, and players need those in order to play the game. There are some other restrictions, and the eligibility of items feels a bit arbitrary, so check first for a “Black Fat Chocobo DLC – 1 application promotion” beneath listed the price.
While players will always be happy to receive new mounts, some have expressed their disappointment that this bonus is yet another recolor of an existing mount. For some time now, players have sought similar recolors of other mounts that are difficult to acquire, such as the Firebird, Fenrir, Astrope, and a few others. Still, other players appreciate getting a spectrum of colored chocobos, especially with the Final Fantasy VII Remake approaching, and no details yet on whether the fabled Gold Chocobo will be in that game in a similar fashion as before. It certainly is hard to please everyone, it seems.
Fans are in for a treat with the upcoming expansion, as the Scions of the Seventh Dawn have reunited in The First. Hydaelyn and Zodiark, the crystal entities that have driven the actions of players for quite some time now, are in fact known as primals, which are massive, summonable beings that Warriors of Light must put down for the greater good.
Players are also receiving a number of job changes, two new races, and new areas. As previously planned, players who have pre-ordered the expansion will have early access on June 28th, while those who did not preorder will be able to dive into the action on July 2nd.
For those interested in obtaining their own Black Fat Chocobo, they still have some time, as the promotion will continue to run from now until July 1st.
