FIFA 20 has continued the legacy of the soccer game franchise which is renowned for having solid gameplay and the licenses to some of the biggest teams. While there is still some debate about which soccer series is the best, FIFA is certainly the most popular and commercially successful. A huge part of recent FIFA titles is the ‘Ultimate Team’ mode that allows players to collect packs and build their own squad. A very popular but often underrated Premier League goalkeeper has now become an easy to gain valuable asset for players who are building their ‘Ultimate Team’ squad.
The goalkeeper, Nick Pope, plays for Burnley and before the season was cut short because of the coronavirus pandemic he was tipped to be England’s next permanent number 1. While FIFA ‘Ultimate Team’ celebrates its birthday, it has been upgrading cards and Nick Pope’s new card moves him from a gold 79 card to an 87 rated player with the highest skill move stats for a goalkeeper ever. There is no doubt that players will be interested in doing a rather simple squad building challenge to obtain this new and improved FIFA 20 card.
All players need to do to obtain the card is the following squad building challenge. Players need an overall squad rating of 84, and a team chemistry of 80 as well as a player from England. This can be done with as little as eleven players and will be very achievable for players who have played the game since its release. If players need to bolster their squad, shrewd bargains mean that a squad that meets these requirements can cost 47k on PS4, 60K on Xbox One, and 49k on PC. These prices are subject to change but the challenge is relatively easy for a reward of an 87-rated player. The series has been no stranger to controversy in recent years, but these incentives may bring players back.
While the concept of purchasing packs doesn’t seem ethical to many, the publisher of the game, Electronic Arts, has resolutely defended its practice. It is up to players to decide if they endorse the practice and if they want to contribute to it. With players like this Burnley keeper on offer, many will find it hard to resist, especially while the online gameplay for the title is still incredibly popular.
The FIFA series has had to ride some storms from serious server issues to the concept of packs being taken to courts across the world. It will be interesting to see if easier challenges that don’t require too much investment from players will encourage more gamers to pick up the title and allow players to forgive previous missteps.
FIFA 20 is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
