Many fans of soccer games are anticipating the release of FIFA 21, as the franchise has the vast majority of licenses for teams around the world. While there were many exciting games announced at the EA Play event, there was only a short montage that showed FIFA 21 alongside Madden NFL 21. Fans of the soccer franchise now have more information about the upcoming title and interestingly it has only been announced through the official site.

The date of the release of FIFA 21 had been cast into doubt after the soccer season had been paused due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Yet it seems that much like the soccer season, the next FIFA game will continue without too much of a delay. The official site provides an update about the release of the game, which is set for October 9 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

The official website also gives insight into how the game works alongside the next generation of consoles. Players who purchase FIFA 21 on the PlayStation 4 or Xbox Series X will be able to transfer the game to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X free of charge.

There have been claims that the Xbox Series X would be backward compatible and allow players to play all old titles. The result of this claim has been a great deal of speculation about how publishers would conduct business, and players will be glad that Electronic Arts has provided clarity on how the publisher is operating and going forward. It is unclear whether this “Dual Entitlement” offer will be extended to all games that are released from this point forward but many fans of the publisher will hope this is the case.

Fans of soccer will be pleased that in one week the Premier League has returned alongside Electronic Arts extending a beneficial offer. With the excitement this offer will generate, it will be interesting to see what the game can deliver for this generation as well as the next.

FIFA 21 is slated to release October 9 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
