FIFA 21 doesn’t launch until October 6, but before launch there’s one special event that has to occur. Electronic Arts recently unveiled the official ratings for players in FIFA 21. It’s one of the most exciting events leading up to release, as soccer fans are able to see just how their favorite players ranked compared to their rivals. And even if a FIFA 21 player doesn’t get top rank, it’s fun to see what their attributes have been assigned to, too.
As for who made the top 10 of FIFA 21 players this year, players can now see for themselves. Atop the list, as expected, is Lionel Messi with an overall score of 93. Messi’s the only player with a score of 93, though it’s just one point ahead of the player behind him, Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo’s 92 is followed by four players at 91. Those four are Keven De Bruyne, Neymar Jr., and Jan Oblak. It’s honestly somewhat of a slight for De Bruyne, who just was awarded the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award for the 2019-20 season.
Following the top 6, there are 6 players who have a score of 90. EA still has a top 10, but two players should probably be considered tied. In the official top 10, the next four players are Virgil van Dijk, FIFA 21 cover art player Kylian Mbappe, Mo Salah, and Sadio Mane. The other two players with a 90 score that fall just out of the top 10 are Marc Andre Ter Stegen and Alisson. It actually isn’t clear why these two were bumped down the list. And they’re actually listed higher in a different part of the EA FIFA 21 website.
Messi tops this year’s list off of his #1 score of 95 for Dribbling in FIFA 21. He’s also called up a 92 in Shooting, a 91 in Passing, and an 85 in Pace. Suffice to say, Messi’s offense is what makes him the best player in FIFA 21. Players will be able to experience it for themselves soon.
FIFA 21 releases on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One on October 9, with support for PS5 and Xbox Series X planned.
