A Fortnite player spent an hour trying to hunt down their last remaining opponent, only to discover they were hidden in a bush the whole time.

Today’s game developers have the luxury of being able to release an unfinished game. Unfinished might be the wrong word. Unpolished is probably more accurate, at least in most cases. Thanks to updates and patches, any problems players discover with a game after the fact can be fixed remotely. 25 years ago, if there was a problem with a game, it had to stay that way forever.

When it comes to battle royale titles such as Fortnite and Warzone, there are so many players unafraid to voice their opinions that developers can be sure problems will be discovered. Infinity Ward, in particular right now, is still getting used to that as Warzone’s players nitpick every single aspect of the game that isn’t perfect or to their liking.

Epic is already used to that after almost three years of Fortnite. It also knows that not every problem or glitch with its flagship game is a bad thing. Take the storm-stopping bug discovered by Reddit user woofblah. They noticed that during a recent round of Fortnite, not only was the storm not closing in, there wasn’t a storm at all.

The player then proceeded to wipe out their opponents one by one until only one enemy remained. Therein lied a problem. Finding one of 99 people on a full map is easy. Having to search the entire island for just one person, not so much. After an hour of searching for the last remaining player, woofblah eliminated themselves only to discover that the winner was hidden in a bush in the corner of the map.

During their hour-long trek in search of that elusive enemy, the Redditor covered 28 km and picked up as many mythical items as they could find. Even though they didn’t win, their time was much better spent than the “winner” who decided to squat in a bush and wait it out. If we are ever faced with this time-stopping bug, we’ll pull up on a riverbank and fish until we catch a Mythical Goldfish.
