The classic SNK fighting game is getting a new lease on life, as Garou: Mark of the Wolves has made its way to current-gen consoles like the Playstation 4. Fans of the game can own a physical copy to collect thanks to Limited Run Games as the classic fighter becomes available later in July. The American video game distributor made the announcement during the Annual Game Announcement Show.
The SNK title was the final entry of the Fatal Fury franchise of fighting games that came out in the 90s. Released in 1999, the game was launched for the Neo Geo by the Japanese developer. The game took place 10 years after the death of Geese Howard, using the same setting as the King of Fighters and Fatal Fury. The game brought back main fighter Terry Bogard along with new characters who are descendants of the original cast. The port of the game features an arcade mode where you can play 12 characters in the “King of Fighters: Maximum Mayhem” tournament.
Limited Run Games confirmed the news on their Twitter account that Garou: Mark of the Wolves would be getting a physical release on the Playstation 4. They mentioned that the game should be available on their website to pre-order in July. This should give gamers a chance to own a piece of history from the popular franchise for their collection. The game was made available to download on PSN as well as Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Earlier this year, the game was given an update featuring a rollback netcode by Code Mystics to port the title.
Garou: Mark of the Wolves was listed among 30 other games that were getting a physical release by Limited Run Games. According to their website, the last entry in the Fatal Fury series would get a release this month. The big news was also shown on their Twitch stream for their special annual games presentation. However, no price has been given for the physical copy. We can expect these to sell out pretty fast once it drops online.
