Taking over from Sephiroth, Kefka has claimed the throne as the wildest villain in the series. Instead of being cold and distant like so many before him, Kefka takes the path of insanity. Replacing frosty decision making with evil, sometimes irrationally cruel actions.

However, behind every seemingly evil character, there are many layers of pain and warped trauma to uncover. In the quest for both power and fulfillment, Kefka was changed by actions of his own and those of others. Made into a much more powerful but ultimately broken being, the price of godly power is a higher cost than most can afford.

10 Twisted Reflection

The two sides of the sociopathic villain, Kefka pulls off both ends convincingly before showing his true colors. Being a jester is seen as rather light-hearted and his personality matches…in the beginning. His story and gradual decline into chaotic madness tell a different story.

Ironically the more natural look is his true mask, with the right side showing fans the darker, more unhinged side. Mukuujidoes a great job of making the change clear but subtle, another shout out to his devious personality and trickster ways.

9 A Darker Side

While a painted on smile still remains, this piece takes on a much darker tone than displaying maniacal tendencies. While Kefka is clearly deranged, at the end of the day he’s a product of faulty experimentation. Driving his mind into chaos, he has now turned his scattered psyche onto the rest of the world.

What Davywagnarok does well is simultaneously showing his most terrifying and pitiful aspects. The red eyes and blood splatter are enough to send shivers down anyone’s spine yet he looks more sullen than he’s usually portrayed. A different view of the arch-villain.

8 Heavenly Shadow

Kefka’s god form, something most impressive and daunting. All silliness is left behind once he transforms, shedding the jester act and getting down to his darkest being. Taking over the Warring Triad results in his becoming the god of magic and catapults his powers to insane heights.

Taking the colorful clown out of the picture, Kanal’s piece displays him at his height of power yet the lowest of mental stability. While he never had much of that in the first place, giving the broken clown that amount of power is a real spotlight on his true mentality.

7 A Rainbow Performance

While most fans end up despising the jester throughout the series, no one can deny his amazing showmanship. All those years performing for Emperor Gestahl have paid off, making him the most entertaining villain in the series. Colors are his trademark and he wears them proudly before he went off the deep end he must have been the best show in town.

Alakdilion gives us a view of Kefka in his full glory, a rainbow of colors that flow from his slender form. Devious smile and all, even the distracting outfit can’t take away from the deceitful smirk strewn across his face.

6 Chilling Combination

Combining his demented glee with the striking body only attained in his god form, Kefka suddenly got a lot more daunting. If players thought he was scary before their heart is likely to skip a beat when the muscled body makes its appearance.

Little-foot’s addition of color in the clouds adds some life to the previously gloomy figure. it also grants some contrast, literally shedding light on the lofty being. While Kefka’s two forms couldn’t be more different physically, Little-foot has brought together the two sides in a stunning way.

5 Shattered Mask

Walking the line of creepy and unconventionally charismatic, if all the makeup was washed away Kefka begins to look like something at least resembling humans. Unfortunately, whether it’s due to the experimentation or simply his twisted nature, Kefka can never quite shake the sinister vibe.

While Mauroillustrator does give the character a break on the facial end of things, being one of the only artists to portray him in a handsome light, the serpentine tongue gives away his hidden intentions. Usually, he’s shown using his patented joker makeup but here the seemingly regular face is the true mask.

4 Eyes Of A Madman

Going full-throttle on the disturbing end of things, Kefka’s intense and crazed eyes steal the show. Now, it’s not often that we see him looking anything less than crazy but this piece adds a whole new level to the word.

Haieitelu throws subtlety to the wind and gives fans a look into the extent of lunacy Kefka suffers. The eyes are the windows to the soul and if that’s to be believed, the player’s favorite villain is in serious need of a therapy session.

3 Raw & Uncut

A more solemn tone, instead of his contorted pose or a crazed smile, Kefka stares through directly at the onlooker. Drawn without the aid of his array of colors, Deimocrates has found a stripped-down severity in which to absorb Kefka.

Sometimes less is more and it’s apparent in this piece, stripping down any extra noise fans are left with the raw character. He looks just as evil and deranged as any other version but by quieter, more serious means.

2 Journey Through Time

Instead of implying Kefka’s evil ways through facial expression or suggestion alone, Masterpug13 decided to give us concrete evidence. Showing fans the true history of Kefka’s actions is irrefutable, leaving nothing up to the imagination.

Slaying his master Gestahl, Kefka took off his own chains as he moves from the servant to the leader. It’s this action that allows his chaotic ambitions to flourish, unable to be controlled with followers at his back. Not that he needs it once he acquires his godly powers.

1 Different Form

Though the male version of Kefka is one of the most terrifying characters in Final Fantasy, the female version poses many more issues. Though he hides in a jesters outfit, it’s not as if he puts any effort to hide his twisted persona.

Heavenlyrivers provides a gorgeous and radiant version that would fool anyone into doubting her dangers. Instead of mounting any form of defense from the smirking clown, most would be drawn in and their defenses lowered - checkmate to the lady in red.
