With plenty of fans eagerly anticipating the release date of Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age for PlayStation 4, Square Enix has decided to release a couple of sample clips from the game’s original soundtrack that preview the in-game background music as a way to further invigorate their excitement. The two aural arrangements come in the form of trailers, with one providing fans with the chance to listen to a piece of “Penelo’s Theme," and the other offering up the game’s “Boss Battle” music.
As seen and heard below in both of Square Enix’s latest trailers for Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age, the first clip provides footage of the playable character Penelo–that is, the main character Vaan’s childhood friend–as her light, airy theme song plays over an encounter she has with the protagonist of the title. The second video features gameplay of both the elemental creature Firemane and the dragon Tiamat, as the driving, string-heavy “Boss Battle” music plays over their respective appearances.
Square Enix’s decision to release these music trailers is twofold, as they are not only meant to promote the forthcoming launch of Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age, but also to remind fans about the game’s original soundtrack going on sale as well. As it so happens, the title’s original soundtrack comes out on July 19, 2017 as a Blu-ray disc where fans will be able to enjoy an arrangement of music both new and familiar from composer Hitoshi Sakimoto together with HD remastered game videos. Of course, the same disc contains MP3 files that will allow for listening without visual accompaniment.
While all of this is surely pertinent information for most, if not all Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age fans, there may be some who are simply wondering how the remaster will look and play. Thankfully, Square Enix released some gameplay footage not too long ago, and it gives gamers a look at the enhancements and refinements made to the original PS2 title for an optimal experience on the PS4. Bearing all of this in mind, with Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age releasing next month, fans won’t have to wait much longer to get their hands on a copy of the game.
