Square Enix drops a new teaser video for Final Fantasy 15’s first major post-game DLC pack - the Moogle Chocobo Carnival - which will be available to all players on January 23.
Despite some players feeling that Final Fantasy 15 remains unfinished even after a decade of development, it’s hard to deny that the final product is filled with enough content to keep players preoccupied for quite some time. For those who have managed to complete the main story campaign and the 200 or so sidequests currently available, prepare to fire up the game once again because a special in-game event will be available in just a few days time.
In a new teaser video released by Square Enix, the first major Final Fantasy 15 post-launch DLC expansion will be a special event called the Moogle Chocobo Carnival, and will be available for free (or in a premium format for season pass holders) to all players from 5:00pm PT January 23 through to 4:00pm PT February 20. Initially alluded to in last month’s Holiday Pack DLC, the Moogle Chocobo Carnival will take place in the in-game city of Altissia and players will have a chance to participate in a variety of event-exclusive activities, such as water chocobo-racing, shooting galleries, fishing games, and even some new chocobo-themed recipes.
In addition to these new mini-games and recipes, the carnival expansion will also add a new photo feature option, a series of new side-quests, chocobo-themed outfits for Noctis, and a limited time fireworks display. See more in the video below.

For those uninterested in an overly exuberant festival centered around Moogles and chocobos, this carnival event is merely the first of what is expected to be a generous amount of Final Fantasy 15 DLC. It was recently announced that Square Enix will be releasing a series of paid story DLC that focuses on each member of Noctis’ entourage, starting with the Gladio-centric expansion titled Episode Gladiolus.
While Final Fantasy 15 has managed to sell a whopping 6 million copies in the short amount of time its been out, it remains to be seen whether the title will ultimately be deemed a success for Square Enix, especially with an ambitious pre-launch 10 million sales target. But with this upcoming Moogle Chocobo carnival event, additional story DLC packs, and some unannounced expansions still to come, it is safe to say that Square Enix are fully committed in its post-launch support of Final Fantasy 15 and players certainly won’t be short of interesting new content any time soon.
Final Fantasy XV is available now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The Moogle Chocobo Carnival event will be available at 5:00pm PT on January 23.
