Several months ago, the publisher and developer Bandai Namco officially announced the forthcoming inclusion of Final Fantasy 15’s protagonist Noctis Lucis Caelum as a new member to the roster of Tekken 7, with the company having originally set a tentative release date of spring 2018. Now, the firm has revealed that the character will be available as DLC in the fighting game next week on Tuesday, March 20, 2018.
This much was revealed by way of a brand new trailer confirming Final Fantasy 15’s Noctis as being a part of the third round of downloadable content for the fighting game, and the character is coming to Tekken 7 along with a variety of extra features. As seen below, Noctis will have at least five different outfit options of Casual Outfit, Royal Raiment, Choco-Mog Style, Fighting King’s Raiment, and Kingly Raiment. The DLC also includes a new stage, Hammerhead, which is an area based on the service station owned by FF15’s Cid and Cindy.
For those unaware, this isn’t the first instance of Final Fantasy 15 lending some of its assets to other titles for a crossover event involving the role-playing game franchise, as an Assassin’s Creed Origins crossover took place not too long ago. As it so happens, the celebration of both franchises saw Square Enix giving Ubisoft the go-ahead to bestow Assassin’s Creed Origins’ protagonist Bayek with the Ultima Blade and a mountable Chocobo, while Final Fantasy 15 got some Assassin’s Creed-inspired content all its own.
The addition of Final Fantasy 15’s Noctis follows Tekken 7’s recent inclusion of another franchise’s famous figure – that is, Fatal Fury’s Geese Howard – with the SNK series’ character having joined the roster back in November 2017. Although pricing hasn’t been announced for Noctis in Tekken 7, considering the fact that Geese costs $8, it stands to reason that Noctis will likely have the same price point.
Final Fantasy 15 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, while Tekken 7 is available now on the same platforms.
