Fans are eagerly waiting for the release of Final Fantasy VII Remake on April 10, and those who are purchasing the physical copy will be in for a surprise when it comes to the long install of the game. Two Blu-ray discs are packaged into the case, the first being a Data Disc, and the second a Play Disc. Altogether it will take about an hour to prepare the game for actual play.

This of course is still a much faster option than downloading the game in a digital purchase depending on where someone is located and their internet connection. Initially the download size was slated to be about 100 GB, but it looks like the game is “only” about 86 GB.

However, one chooses to go about getting into the remake of Final Fantasy VII, it will be well worth the effort. Reviews across the board are portraying the game in a positive light, and TheGamer’s resident Final Fantasy expert, Scott Baird, has given the game an impressive four out of five stars. The real question is how large the entire game will be once it has been released in its entirety. Given how much is left to cover in the story and EA’s unwillingness to detail exactly how many episodic releases lie ahead, we could be looking at two to three hundred GB!
