Final Fantasy VII Remake is an action RPG that is set in an active 3D space, where multiple characters are engaging each other at the same time. The combat system is one of the highlights of Final Fantasy VII Remake and the people who have sharpened their skills on the harder bosses in the Dark Souls and Kingdom Hearts series might find themselves wanting the enemies to put up more of a fight.
The people who want more of a challenge in Final Fantasy VII Remake can do so by playing the game in Hard Mode. The player won’t have access to this mode straight away and it has to be unlocked. The Hard Mode is essentially the game’s New Game+ and it’s intended for people who have mastered the combat system on the lower difficulty settings and have already prepared a team of characters who can take on the final boss of the game.
How To Unlock Hard Mode
In order to unlock Hard Mode, the player needs to finish the story of Final Fantasy VII Remake under one of the other three difficulty modes in the game. This means finishing all eighteen chapters and defeating the end boss. Once the player has done this, they can replay any chapter in the game on the new difficulty mode. The player cannot start a fresh save on Hard Mode, so they’ll be using the same end-game gear/Materia that they used to complete the game.
What’s Different In Hard Mode?
The enemies are significantly stronger in hard mode and the player will need to prepare for some difficult battles going forward. The player cannot use healing items in Hard Mode and MP becomes a precious commodity, as it’s a lot more difficult to regenerate. The Pride & Joy Prototype superboss can be battled in the Shinra Combat Simulator in Hard Mode. The player will find a lot more Manuscripts in Hard Mode, giving them more weapon upgrade points to spend and they can skip the bike minigames if they don’t want to repeat them.
Final Fantasy VII Remake is available now for PlayStation 4.
