Final Fantasy XIV’s Moonfire Faire is a seasonal event that’s all about beaches, babes, and having some good clean summer fun. The Faire’s event quest and rewards change every year, so FFXIV fans always have plenty to look forward to around the turn of August.

This year’s Moonfire Faire is called the “Summer Shark Blowout!”, and you can tell by the exclamation point that the game means business. Players will need to be level 30 in any Disciple of War or Magic class in order to start the event quest.

The event begins August 12th at 1:00 AM PDT and runs till August 26th at 7:59 AM. Once the event starts, players will be able to pick up the event quest “A Fish Too Far” from Mayaru Moyaru in the Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks.

Beyond the ominous title, Moonfire Faire 2020’s website doesn’t offer any details about what “A Fish Too Far” will actually involve. Of course, this being FFXIV, players can probably expect the usual combat, fetch quest, combat, fetch quest model most of the game’s content tends to follow. In spite of the sparse details surrounding the event quest, players can find previews and screenshots of this year’s event rewards posted front and center on the site.

The Faire will be awarding the Summer’s Flame set, whose two most notable pieces are a floral-patterned pareo and a lovely oversized straw hat. Players can also earn the emote “Flame Dance”, which, like the Summer Flame set, looks to be hula-inspired. This year’s event furniture item is a large bomb-shaped water balloon stand. Folks roaming FFXIV’s various residential districts can expect to see quite a few of these cropping up on people’s lawns during the event.

Players new to the Moonfire Faire or who had the misfortune of missing out on prior iterations of the event will be able to purchase certain reward items from previous years’ Moonfire Faires from event vendors. It’s worth noting that glamour items from previous Moonfire Faires are purchasable from the Final Fantasy XIV online store with real currency, so it’s unlikely that those particular rewards will be available in-game from event vendors.
