The Ashen Wolves are the fourth unofficial house in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. They are a house made up of refugees and rejects, and they live underground in Abyss where it is safe for them. The house took on the mission of protecting the people of Abyss at any cost.
When Byleth and the gang discover them, they are a group veiled in mystery. Naturally, they are hesitant towards the folk who live aboveground but eventually come around to them. Still, that doesn’t mean everything is revealed in their side story. Some things can only be found by playing through the story after recruiting them.
10 Yuri’s Original House
In the Cindered Shadows DLC, it is revealed that Yuri attended the Officer’s Academy as a student at one point. However, after an unfortunate incident, he was forced to leave. He escaped to the underworld and eventually took over the Ashen Wolves house.
Byleth finds out that Yuri belonged to the Blue Lions house if they talk to him before the Battle of the Eagle and Lion. Also, Byleth learns Yuri won the battle that year.
9 Hapi Doesn’t Have A Last Name
Unlike most of the other characters, Hapi is never revealed to have a last name. This is probably because she ran away from home at a young age. Although it is strange she never learned her last name before she ran away, she may have just forgotten. That, or it was also possible commoners didn’t have last names where she was from.
Hapi not having a surname makes her only the fifth character in Three Houses without one (or at least one that isn’t revealed).
8 Constance Doesn’t Get Sarcasm
Constance never stops blathering on about how she has made it her mission to restore House Nuvelle to its former glory. When other students make comments about it, she doesn’t seem to understand what they are really trying to say.
This is shown by her support conversations with Yuri since he jokes about bootlicking to become a noble. She takes his words at face value and finds a way to make boots tastier to lick by using magic to make them taste like licorice.
7 Balthus Knows The Ordelias
When Balthus was on the run from his debts, he went to House Ordelia for help. Unfortunately, the house was already dealing with the Empire at the time, so they couldn’t do much for him but help him escape.
Still, being the honorable man Balthus is, he was very thankful for House Ordelia’s help. Though not a real debt, he feels indebted to House Ordelia and wishes to repay them as he explains in a support conversation with Lysithea.
6 Uniforms
Unlike the other students, the students of the Ashen Wolves don’t wear the traditional black and gold color scheme. Instead, they wear silver and gray uniforms. There doesn’t seem to be much of an explanation for this change from the traditional uniforms.
Also, unlike the other houses, the Ashen Wolves wear black chains over their uniforms, something none of the other houses don. It could symbolize that society used to have them in chains.
5 Constance Is Close With Mercedes
Mercedes and Constance knew each other before the destruction of House Nuvelle. They were childhood friends and reunite at the Officer’s Academy. During their supports, it doesn’t seem like much has changed, though Mercedes says she feels like the little sister instead of the older sister.
Constance also doesn’t act as snobbish around Mercedes when compared to how she acts around others, so it shows Constance does care about Mercedes.
4 Yuri Is Allergic To Dogs And Cats
In a tea party conversation with Yuri, he reveals he is allergic to dogs and cats. According to him, he is “deathly allergic” to them.
This seems like an issue since Garreg Mach has a lot of dogs and cats just sitting around everywhere. Even if he is joking, which he probably is, he has to be sneezing all the time as he walks around the monastery. No wonder he likes to stay underground most of the time.
3 Hapi Is Cursed
While players wouldn’t know just by looking at her, it is revealed after some time that Hapi is cursed. When she sighs, monsters appear. This can be both a good thing and a bad thing. It can be helpful when a distraction is needed. However, if she went on a bad date she might accidentally summon a monster.
Although, summoning a monster on a boring date would certainly make it more exciting.
2 Constance Dislikes The Empire
Throughout her supports with Black Eagle students, Constance feels betrayed by the Empire. She does admit her house did little in return of the Empire, but she does feel like they didn’t come to her aid just to see House Nuvelle fall.
Still, for some reason, she wants to become a noble in the Empire again, despite not liking what the nobility failed to do for her family. Luckily for her, Edelgard is willing to help once the war is over.
1 Unique Classes
Although technically in the main story anyone can become an Abyssian class, the Abyssian classes were made for the Ashen Wolves. Each one has a class that best suits their play-style. This makes them special because only the three house leaders and Byleth have unique classes for their play-styles.
Also, in Cindered Shadows, the classes are unique to them. None of the other characters can switch their class to an Abyssian class.
