Fire Emblem: Three Houses is full of playable characters with both a knack for battling and big personalities that allow them to differentiate themselves from the rest of the pack. One such character is Dorothea of the Black Eagles class.

With a bold and bright personality that shines as brightly as Dorothea, it’s easy to assume the songstress is a carefree open book with nothing to hide. As the game progresses, however, the player will slowly piece together her past and everything that makes her the lovable character that she is. If the player is invested enough, they need to know these ten facts about Dorothea.

10 Loves To Flirt

In Three Houses, there are two major flirts amongst the students at the Officers Academy. One is Sylvain, while his female counterpart is Dorothea.

Dorothea might not be as extreme as Sylvain when it comes to flirting, but she is by no means afraid to make a move on anyone who interests her. Her charm and beauty are sure to win over the heart of just about anyone.

9 Opera Career

While many of her classmates come from royalty, Dorothea lived on the streets of the Adrestian Empire during the early parts of her life. This all changed when she was scouted and taken in by the Mittelfrank Opera Company.

There, Dorothea excelled and gained popularity as a talented songstress. Even after leaving the opera house to attend the Officers Academy, she retained her love for singing and will often chat with Professor Manuela about it.

8 Her Swordsmanship

Despite being most known for her beauty and talents as a singer, Dorothea also has a respectable talent for swordsmanship. This is reflected not only in her subject growths but also in her support conversation with Felix.

After joining Felix in his dedicated sword training, Dorothea impresses him with her handling of the sword. She reveals that she was taught to wield a sword at the opera house in order to protect herself from any danger that may arise.

7 Dancer Potential

Unlike past Fire Emblem games, Three Houses gives the player the power to choose which character to give the valuable Dancer class to. With her strengths in both swordsmanship and magic, many players will opt to make Dorothea their designated Dancer.

As a Dancer, Dorothea can allow any of her allies to move and attack again in the same turn. This support role goes hand in hand with her Personal Ability, Songstress, which heals the HP of nearby allies.

6 Nicknames

As part of her charm and personality, Dorothea has affectionate nicknames for several of her classmates. For example, she refers to Edelgard as “Edie” due to their close friendship.

In contrast, she calls Ferdinand “Ferdie” despite holding a grudge against him. Her most hilarious nickname, however, is “Hubie” for Hubert, considering he seems too serious to be given such a cute nickname.

5 Her Father

Many characters, such as Sylvain and Edelgard, have experienced misfortune due to the existence of Crests, and Dorothea is no different. Because she didn’t bear a Crest, she was tossed to the streets by her father.

After gaining popularity as a songstress, however, Dorothea had an encounter with her father who couldn’t even recognize her. And to make things even worse, he attempted to flirt with her.

4 Past With Ferdinand

Initially, the interactions between Dorothea and Ferdinand made it clear that she had something against him. At the same time, Ferdinand was unaware of what he did to offend her.

Their support conversations eventually reveal that they had met prior to becoming classmates at the Officers Academy. Ferdinand had been impressed and flustered by her singing, though Dorothea mistook it for him looking down on her.

3 Support With Byleth

Dorothea has many interesting support conversations with other characters, but one of her most memorable interactions is between her and the player’s character, Byleth.

While attempting to flirt and win over the heart of Byleth, Dorothea is shocked to see the lack of emotion from her professor. In fact, she asks Byleth if their heart is even beating, to which they can respond that it isn’t.

2 Her Sexuality

Marriage has been a reoccurring feature of the Fire Emblem titles, and the most recent games have included a handful of bisexual characters who can be married.

In addition to her classmates, Linhardt and Edelgard, Dorothea is one of the characters whom the male or female Byleth can marry. This goes hand in hand with her ability to flirt and charm anyone in sight, regardless of gender.

1 Can Marry Hanneman

While Dorothea makes a great candidate for Byleth as a love interest, she also has the potential to marry another professor, Hanneman. This is perhaps one of the oddest support relationships in the game due to their stark differences.

At the same time, Dorothea and Hanneman share the same dislike of Crests. Dorothea was abandoned by her father for not bearing a Crest, while Hanneman blames Crests for his sister’s death. Through that common link, they are able to bond and potentially marry.
