It used to be that the fall was the premiere time for games to launch, as the holiday season always drove sales, and games were fresh on the mind for Game of the Year awards. However, spring releases are becoming more common, and the first half of 2020 seems set to feature a ton of high profile game releases. This news comes on the heels of the reveal that Cyberpunk 2077 was aiming for an unrealistic 2019 release date, yet the studio feels 2020 is far more likely.

This could suggest that Cyberpunk 2077 would release in early 2020, as the 2019 aim could mean that it is nearing the end of its development cycle. It wouldn’t be alone, though, as many games could be looking at early 2020 release dates, namely The Last of Us 2, Ghost of Tsushima, George R. R. Martin’s From Software game, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and a few AAA Ubisoft titles.

Of course, several of these could be delayed or simply considering early 2020 releases, and there’s no way to know the actual release date until an official announcement. But according to Kotaku’s Jason Schreier, he’s heard that the aforementioned games could very well launch in early 2020, and in his words, “2020 gonna be wild.” Without a doubt, if all of those games were to come in the first half of next year, it would be a huge start on releases for 2020.

That’s not to say there isn’t plenty coming this fall, though. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Death Stranding, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and more are all set to release this fall, meaning that the end of 2019 and the first half of 2020 could prove to be a gamer’s paradise. To top it all off, many of these are the most anticipated games of E3 2019, so more will likely be learned about many of those titles there.

If, for example, Cyberpunk 2077 is aiming for a 2019 release (even if it was later delayed into 2020), that would likely be learned at E3 2019. There are only a few days until the prestigious event begins, so gamers the world over should stay tuned for more information about Cyberpunk 2077, the next From Software game, and much, much more.

Cyberpunk 2077 does not currently have a confirmed release date or release window.
