After many threw shade at Sony following the company’s lackluster offerings for May 2020, it seems players are expecting a lot out of June’s PlayStation Plus offerings to make up for this month’s disappointing output. Putting both Farm Simulator 2019 and Cities Skylines up for grabs, players have made it clear to Sony that they want bigger, more valuable games in the future, especially with companies like Epic Games giving PC players titles like Grand Theft Auto 5, Civilization 6, and Just Cause 4 without even needing to pay any subscription fees.

It seems Sony heard the criticism and announced yesterday that players would be getting one of June’s games early, with Call of Duty: WW2 being the first of next month’s releases. Following yesterday’s report, Call of Duty WW2 has officially gone live, with players able to access the game for free starting today.

Releasing the title early appears to be in conjunction with Memorial Day, meaning players can dive into a game that surrounds one of history’s most brutal conflicts and truly appreciate the sacrifices thousands of brave soldiers paid. This appears to be one of the bigger games that Sony has gifted to its subscribers over recent months, with the Call of Duty franchise often remaining far away from PlayStation and Xbox’s respective giveaways.

Of course, rumors have begun to swirl that a second game will be joining Call of Duty: WW2, with many claiming that Marvel’s Spider-Man could be swinging onto PlayStation Plus in June. That would undeniably send a major message to players that Sony is willing to up its game when it comes to the free titles included in PlayStation Plus, with Spider-Man easily standing as one of the PlayStation 4’s most must-buy exclusives. There are few games as big as the webhead’s blockbuster PS4 outing, and it would no doubt be a fantastic gesture for Sony to offer it to fans for free.

Players on PC have recently been spoiled for choice when it comes to free games, with the Epic Games Store currently offering numerous free titles to keep players occupied while they’re stuck at home. Rumors are currently pegging Borderlands: The Handsome Jack Collection and Ark: Survival Evolved to be the next two titles coming to the popular storefront, so players currently looking for some excellent free games are in luck. As for Xbox, the free games currently available are V-Rally 4 and Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr, with Overlord 2 obtainable on the Xbox 360.
