Although SINoALICE, the popular mobile RPG from Creative Director Yoko Taro, was first released in Japan back in 2017, the game was only released globally this past July. Since its global debut, the game has had a two crossover events, and is now in the middle of its first seasonal event that will run through September 3rd.
The event, entitled “An End to Summer Dreams” began on August 20th, and is a co-op guild event. Players will face off against various monsters that pop up across the different stages. For each monster that players defeat, they’ll be able to earn medal clams, working their way towards milestone targets that will garner them special rewards. The clams themselves will also be exchangeable for further rewards.
As reported on initially by PocketGamer.com, “An End to Summer Dreams” will also feature a new story centered on the game’s characters Sleeping Beauty and Little Mermaid. Furthermore, the event will introduce new SR weapons that will have an event exclusive effect which will help players collect clams and achieve their goals before 5:59 am UTC, at which point the seasonal event will come to an end.
Although the SINoALICE has only been globally available for slightly over a month and a half, “An End to Summer Dreams” is the third special event for players outside of Japan. Prior to the current—and first—Seasonal Event, there have been two crossover events that introduced characters and weapons from the NieR: Automata and NieR RepliCant games. These crossovers ran from July 16th to August 6th and August 6th to August 20th respectively.
Seeing that as soon as one event ended another began, it’s possible that “An End to Summer Dreams” may well be followed immediately by either another seasonal event, or potentially another crossover. Whether or not that proves to be the case, players are sure to continue to enjoy SINoALICE for the ways that its design elements—from art design to music—and bold conceptual twist on familiar fairy tale figures have come together to create an extremely well-received RPG for mobile devices.
