During Sony’s “State of Play” stream last night, a rather fetching looking indie brawler titled Aeon Must Die was shown off. Exhibiting an art style very reminiscent of Tron, it was one of the highlights in an otherwise boring stream. Sadly, it seems that the trailer revealed during Sony’s event was made under rather deplorable conditions.
Earlier this morning, publisher Focus Home Interactive took to Twitter to address the concerns raised by these individuals. “Focus Home Interactive was informed of serious allegations raised by some of the developers at Limestone,” reads the statement. “These grievances are directed at Limestone, their direct employer. As the publisher of this video game, Focus is carefully looking into these allegations and will draw the necessary conclusions if they are proved to be well-founded.”
It should be stressed that there is no way to verify this information. It’s good that Focus Home is taking the claims seriously, but we likely won’t learn the entire truth behind this matter for some time. The games industry loves to silence those that speak out against serious issues like crunch, so everyone involved has remained anonymous to ensure their own safety.
Still, the amount of evidence here is pretty damning. It appears that Limestone is attempting to profit off of the backs of others and doesn’t care who it hurts to do so. For a title that looked so interesting and unique, that sucks to hear. I truly hope everyone involved can get the justice they deserve because nonsense like this has no place within any creative industry.
