For Honor has been adding numerous heroes across the game’s different factions to its ranks since it first came out in 2017. With every new year, players can expect at least one new hero to be added to its already impressive roster of characters. One of the heroes that was added during the game’s first year was the Jormungandr.
Named after the mythic sea serpent from Norse mythology due to their skin looking like snake scales, the Jormungandr have a wild appearance and an equally wild personality due to their loud screaming during combat. As is the case with all of the game’s heroes, there are some nuances you need to know in order to become the best Jormungandr.
Knowing The Jormungandr
For Honor’s Jormungandr is classified as a heavy that is ranked at medium difficulty in terms of mastering them. They wield a war hammer that they can wield with either one hand or two hands.
They also possess special moves known as Jotunn surge, Jotunn farewell, Jotunn grudge and Jotunn gift. Farewell can be done by pressing the guard break button after any opener except for Jotunn surge and grudge. Surge can be done by pressing the left stick back and hitting the guard break button. Grudge can be activated after pressing the guard break button after a successful parry and gift can be activated by initiating a guard break and following up with a light attack.
The Strengths And Weaknesses Of The Jormungandr
The Jormungandr has an assortment of moves and bashes that can deplete their opponent’s stamina which plays into their harasser characteristic. They can harass the enemy by unleashing a barrage of unblockable light and heavy finishers, meaning the last attack in a chain is always guaranteed to be an unblockable attack with side heavy finishers that will knock enemies away from you.
Despite being billed as a heavy though, the Jormungandr only has a total of 130 HP, much like the Black Prior who is also a heavy with that amount of HP. Unlike the Black Prior though, the Jormungandr does not have a shield to fall back on should they be surrounded so it is best to not to take on more than two enemies at a time.

How To Use The Jormungandr
The Jormungandr is best used when you have to hold down an objective which makes them a good choice for both dominion and breach. They are also a good choice for duels and brawls since they are capable on holding their own in a fight.
It is best to not go rushing in blindly since, as previously stated, the Jormungandr does not have as much HP as other heavy classed characters.
Their attacks are slow so be sure you play well into the harasser role of the character by using the Jormungandr’s unblockable chains and their jotunn moves wihich are unique to them. If you have someone else with you, then you can serve as a distraction while a teammate attacks the person you’re attacking to double team an enemy which could ultimately lead to victory in a tight situation.
