Emotions are running high in the For Honor community right now. Ubisoft’s multiplayer-focused melee combat title has been suffering from many issues, and the players themselves feel as though the publisher could be doing more in terms of communication, and solving issues such as matchmaking, balance, and the much-maligned expensive Steel DLC system. Some players now feel as though enough is enough, and are planning a boycott of the game.

The boycott, which is due to start on April 3, 2017, at 5:00 am EST and run for exactly 24 hours, has been getting a lot of attention in the For Honor subreddit, and receiving a lot of support from the community itself. Reddit user jbaayoun cited some specific grievances surrounding the game, with particular focus on the lack of clear communication from Ubisoft with regards to both current problems and the future of the game, alongside the aforementioned problems with the Steel currency system and matchmaking.

Should enough players agree to take part in the For Honor blackout, then it may well make Ubisoft sit up and notice. After all, the game has a sizeable potential player base, with the game sitting pretty in the sales charts for February, albeit with a drop-off of players since the initial launch. Should these issues with the game be solved, then there’s every chance that the fans would repay Ubisoft with continued play - at least according to the boycott’s page itself. “We know you can do a good job with this game and we have our faith in you. Just give us a reason to stay faithful.”

However, For Honor has suffered from a fair few issues since its launch, so there’s a reason why players have grown a little tired of having to deal with difficulties when trying to play the game. For starters, the game’s anti-cheat system was banning innocent players, which didn’t exactly give players much sense of loyalty.

This isn’t the only time that the game’s community has responded in an organized fashion, either. The huge costs of Steel packs against the overall rewards drew the ire of players, with many refusing to buy the packs and urging others to do the same.

Ubisoft is continuing to tweak For Honor, as shown by an announcement of changes coming to Steel income via a Tweet sent out today, but it’s not been enough to make those planning this blackout be lenient on the company. Hopefully, Ubisoft will make sufficient changes to the title to ensure that those who wish to keep enjoying the title feel they can do so.

For Honor is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
