A Suicide Squad game coming in 2022 looks to give DC fans what the first movie did not, but we’d prefer developers leave that to Hollywood and create a game based on The Boys.
As for its theoretical video game, our idea would be for it to allow players to assume either the role of one of The Seven or bravely become one of The Boys. Opting for the latter would make for a far more difficult experience as only one of its members actually has superpowers. Picking a supe would likely be a lot easier, but also a lot more fun.
Whoever develops the game would have a lot more than two seasons of TV to choose from. The TV show is based on a comic book that ran for six years and includes 72 issues, as well as a few tangents and spinoffs. There is a lot more to explore than might ever be a part of the TV show, and what better way to air out all those nooks and crannies and expose them to the world than via an in-depth video game?
It actually seems like Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad game will bear a lot of similarities to what could be done with The Boys in that medium. A bunch of lovable misfits with little-to-no real superpowers trying to hunt down a seemingly invincible supervillain that the rest of the world views as its savior. Maybe we’ll just squint whenever Superman shows up and pretend he’s Homelander.
