Although Ubisoft has plenty of franchises in its library that fans are dying to see revived, it’s hard to argue that Splinter Cell sits close to the top of the list. A lot has changed for Ubisoft since the last time players saw Sam Fisher, with a new focus on games as services, but there is still hope that a new Splinter Cell might one day be announced. In fact, Ubisoft reportedly worked on some designs for Splinter Cell games, but those ideas never made it to full development.

While speaking with Game Reactor, former Ubisoft producer Jade Raymond reveals her team worked on a concept for Splinter Cell that they wanted to make. Unfortunately, now that Raymond no longer works for Ubisoft, she didn’t want to share what that concept might be, likely because it could still be floating through the company.

Raymond is probably best known for working on the Assassin’s Creed series during its early iterations, specifically the first two games. She then jumped over to Splinter Cell and helped produce Blacklist and then Watch Dogs after that. Then, in 2014 she left Ubisoft and later joined Electronic Arts to head up its Motive Studios.

As Raymond’s role within EA grew it seemed as if things were moving towards her helping to produce a big budget Star Wars game, but things eventually fell apart and she left the studio this year. Once again there is likely a juicy story behind what Raymond was working on, or the games she had seen, but those details won’t make their way to the public.

Even if Raymond’s Splinter Cell concept is scrapped, it’s safe to assume that Ubisoft hasn’t forgotten about the franchise altogether. Sam Fisher just recently made an appearance in Ghost Recon: Wildlands and fans went wild with speculation that it was a preamble to a larger reveal. Thus far, though, Splinter Cell has not seen its big revival, but every year the anticipation and rumors build regardless. Who knows, perhaps Raymond might one day return to Ubisoft and revive her concept.
