To add to the vast number of charities donated to during the COVID-19 pandemic, former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime and award-winning journalist Harold Goldberg will be starting a podcast for this purpose.
The podcast, “Talking Games With Reggie And Harold,” has now gone public. It is currently on Go Fund Me and has raised over $500 in just six hours. They hope to reach $15,000.
All donations will go toward the New York Videogame Critics Circle during the coronavirus outbreak. The NYVGCC’s purpose is to educate high school students located in homeless shelters with regards to journalism classes, now going online. The courses will be partially arranged by Reggie and Goldberg at no cost to students.
Talking Games With Reggie And Harold will be starting in mid-May, whose donors will receive access to “bonus content from Reggie and our famous guests.” Further, select donors can ask Reggie questions and there will be video game memorabilia that can be purchased first by donors.
Any donations made past the stated goal will still go to the NYVGCC and the education of high school students in homeless shelters.
Reggie has always been thought of as a down-to-earth and generous figure in the gaming industry, which is illustrated by this form of charity. Hopefully, the podcast can raise a great deal of money. Given Reggie’s notoriety, reaching the donation goals is a likely possibility.
