The World of Darkness franchise is seemingly growing by the second, as a new game based on Werewolf: The Apocalypse is being developed by the people behind the first game in The Witcher series.

The World of Darkness is best-known for the Vampire: The Masquerade tabletop RPG and its video game spin-offs. The franchise once consisted of different series that focused on supernatural races other than vampires, including Mage: The Ascension, Wraith: The Oblivion, and Werewolf: The Apocalypse. The World of Darkness franchise has been reborn over the past year, with a new edition of Vampire: The Masquerade and a long-awaited sequel to Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines that is currently in development.

A new edition of Werewolf: The Apocalypse is currently being developed and a video game based on the property was announced today. Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Heart of the Forest has a brief teaser trailer on the Walkabout YouTube channel, but it doesn’t say much about the game, nor is anything said about genre or possible platforms.

Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Heart of the Forest is being developed by Different Tales and the project is headed by Jacek Brzeziński and Artur Ganszyniec, the leads behind the first game in The Witcher series. The two are huge fans of the World of Darkness and have discussed their passion for the project on the official website for the game.

Werewolf: The Apocalypse is a very different beast from Vampire: The Masquerade. It’s a game about learning to control anger in the face of a lot of reasons to be angry. Werewolf: The Apocalypse is about the destruction that mankind is wrecking upon nature and how creatures that once existed in mythology have risen up to take back the wild. It’s a shame we don’t know more about Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Heart of the Forest as of the time of writing, but the developers have promised to reveal more about the game in July.
