Fortnite’s map is very different and much wetter than it has ever been before, so knowing where to start each round is key to finding success.
When flying high above Fortnite’s expansive island, figuring out when to jump and where to land can be a daunting prospect. Gone are the days of players who love chaos and can rack up eliminations by landing at Tilted Towers, while those who prefer a quieter start could land well, pretty much anywhere else.
What’s more, Epic kicked off Season 3 by flooding most of the island. That resulted in a lot of the new locations added at the start of Chapter 2 being removed from players’ lists of viable landing spots. There are plenty of places that make perfect starting points for players of any and all ability and preference though, and we have hand-picked some of our favorites.
The Authority
If there is an equivalent to Tilted Towers in today’s Fortnite, this is it. It won’t get quite as busy as the demolished POI, but since it’s a big building in the middle of the map complete with a vault to break in to, there are fewer places better when it comes to loot and potential storm circle proximity. Plus, since the waters have subsided a little, it is harder to get into The Authority which might mean it isn’t quite as crowded.
Catty Corner
The Authority isn’t the only place players can go to find a vault and set themselves up for the rest of the round. There’s also one at Catty Corner and chances are it will be far quieter there than right in the middle of the map. Not only because it is closer to Fortnite’s border, but also because the challenge to enter it was added in week one. Most players who want to complete that challenge will have done so by now.
The Loot Boat
The best place to land, by far, this season is the unnamed Loot Boat. The only problem is trying to find it. The small boat can be found way off the coast of the island, and it spawns somewhere different with each passing round. If a player can find it and reach it though, it will be well worth their while. The tiny boat is loaded up with chests and even a Loot Crate. Plus, there’s a speedboat on the back so players can make a speedy getaway from the storm.
