Fortnite is still a major player in the battle royale genre. Despite the mounting competition of similar games, Fortnite manages to deliver plenty of updates and challenges to keep the gameplay fresh. Naturally, this leads to a great amount of anticipation for new features as players consider how the game will change. A scheduled feature for Season 3 was the introduction of cars, yet this has been delayed and fans are annoyed.
Season 3 of Fortnite has had a mixed reception from its player base, while some have enjoyed the newly implemented Aquaman challenges others have felt that the game has lost what made it special. The introduction of cars has been teased since the trailer for the season and has been one of the more highly anticipated updates. However, it now seems that the feature may not be included in Season 3 and if it is, it will only be for a short while.
The Fortnite Twitter account lets players know that the addition of cars will be delayed by a few weeks. While there have been plenty of game industry delays because of the coronavirus pandemic and most players have been understood the struggles that game developers have experienced, the reaction to the statement was not positive. Many fans were angry that a feature that was advertised for Season 3 will undoubtedly be missing for most of it. It is clear what the players want and, while the statement didn’t describe the situation in too much detail, the team is likely doing all they can to deliver the highly anticipated cars.
Fans of Fortnite are evidently excited about cars even if they are expressing disappointment right now. With that in mind, Epic Games may extend the season to give players a greater amount of time with a full roster of Season 3 features and this would also allow the team more time to develop the upcoming season which is currently scheduled for August 27. Fortnite did delay the start of Season 3 so this is a feasible way to please fans while relieving the pressure of delivering a new season amidst a global pandemic.
While fans are angry about the current situation it seems that Fortnite may be able to get them back on side by shifting expectations and providing more detail about a realistic roadmap. Whether the team decides to do this is yet to be seen.
Fortnite is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X versions are currently in development.
