Epic Games’ on-going Fortnitemares event has brought a lot to the table for the wildly popular battle royale game Fortnite. Still, while most of everything has been well-received such as the spooky Halloween-related challenges, there have been parts that are particularly frustrating.

A prime example is the PvEvP element introduced with the zombies and cube monsters, making later circles on the standard PvP mode feel more like Fortnite’s Save The World mode. This was due to the fact that, at times, it would be 1v1 with 20 zombies in the mix, making the match feel unfair and uneven.

The concept of Fortnitemares was well-received, with many hoping there could be more LTMs like this in the future, but many agree the spawns were too much. Taking into account its community’s feedback, Epic Games has re-balanced the number of enemies spawns in the game.

In order to accomplish this, the developer has decreased the number of dynamic spawners in play. Check out the changes below:

  • Phase 1: from 85 to 85 (unchanged) Phase 2: from 40 to 25 Phase 3: from 30 to 15 Phase 4: from 10 to 7 Phase 5: from 10 to 5 Phase 6: from 10 to 5 Phase 7: from 5 to 3 Phase 8: from 5 to 3 Phase 9: from 5 to 3

Hopefully, this change should eliminate situations where certain players only win due to the NPC enemies running around. This should also seemingly make completing some of the season 6 week 5 challenges easier, since players primarily need to be concerned with other players.

Still, despite the popularity and reception of this event, it does appear that Fortnite is falling to the backburner for many players. For example, Fortnite’s Twitch viewership has fallen by 30% over two months. It seems likely this is due to growing competition from other major releases, but it is worth adding that, despite the loss in viewership, Fortnite is still going strong.
