Although patch 1.10 for Fortnite just recently released Xbox-exclusive heroes, patch 1.11 appears to be the real gift. Epic Games’ latest patch includes the beginning of season 2 for Battle Royale, the new Battle Pass, a holiday event, global inventory, holiday heroes, weapons, an event currency store, and various updates to the game.
Revealed in the patch notes, season 2 begins today and will end on Feb 20th. Fortnite’s battle pass is available now and will unlock 65 rewards by the end of the season. Epic Games did reveal that it would take between 75 to 150 hours to unlock everything, however.
The patch also introduces an event store and a global inventory that can be brought up out of a mission. In the announcement, Epic Games also sneaks in a promise of global crafting for Save The World coming soon. The highlights include a Snowball Grenade Launcher, a festive Battle bus, and emotes as rewards via the Battle Pass or Shop.
Moreover, the patch updates daily quests, weapon names (for consistency), and game mode selection (amongst many smaller updates). It also introduces the Fortnite Guide to Holiday Survival which highlights a new event questline and four new heroes: Sarah Claus (Alchemist), Blitzen BASE Kyle (Warden), Snow Stalker Jonesy (Demolisher), and Fragment Flurry Jess (Reclaimer). Noticeably, the newly-introduced Last Team Standing mode is absent in this patch. Since it was released recently, this news is not a big surprise, but considering the frequency with which Epic Games updates Fortnite, any issues players may experience with this mode may be expected to be addressed soon.
‘Tis the season for updates, and it appears Epic Games does not wish to disappoint. The overall size and additions of this patch are easily comparable to its Halloween event, and hopefully, this update trend continues for smaller holidays early next year. Regardless, Epic Games continues to deliver (without going down a chimney) with its frequent updates and content, making Fortnite a true gift to gamers.
Fortnite is currently available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
