There is a lot going on this week in Fortnite, beginning with the recent release of Patch 2.74. There is nothing inherently significant about this update in terms of gameplay or map changes, but there are several improvements made that should help prevent matchmaking, stability, network connections, and game-crashing issues.

Following the success of its first movie night featuring one of three films by Christopher Nolan, Epic Games again utilized the power of its in-game theater to dialogue about racial issues affecting the United States. On July 4, players were invited to the same Party Royale mode used for films to watch its “We The People” event, featuring a series of conversations focusing on systemic racism and diversity. The presentation lasted a little less than an hour and featured CNN’s Van Jones, former Teen Vogue Editor-In-Chief Elaine Welteroth, The Atlantic writer Jemele Hill and rapper Killer Mike. The presentation continued to loop every hour for the next 24 hours and can be viewed below.

Next, reputable Fortnite dataminer @iFireMonkey has found another Marvel skin in the game files, this time for Avengers: Endgame. Hot on the heels of Captain America is Thor, out of shape, depressed, and looking quite like Jeff Bridges as The Dude in The Big Lebowski. The God of Thunder is not exactly looking great in this skin, featuring flip-flops, a juice box, and an order of French Fries in his pocket.

Finally, after years of waiting, Fortnite: Save the World has finally left Early Access. For years now Epic Games has stated that the game would eventually become free-to-play, but they have made the decision to keep it within its premium model only, at least for now. Development is said to be slowing down but will continue to have new experiences added over time.

We have said it before, and we will say it again, Save the World is an excellent game to play on its own, and allows for the farming of V-Bucks in the battle royale mode. Now with long-term progression as a formal design plan, there is no reason not to buy into the game.
