A glitch with Fortnite’s new storm that has been discovered by many players allows people to float in the sky and wait until the end of the game.

Between its live in-game event and the start of a brand new season, Fortnite has undergone an awful lot of change this week. The Agency is gone, the storm was briefly made of water, and Aquaman has shown up riding a dolphin. The theme of Season 3 is, of course, water (what gave it away?).

Unfortunately, the storm didn’t remain a wall of water for long. It was a welcome change for a lot of players, but as Season 2 became Season 3, the wall fell and flooded the map. However, for the brief period the storm was an intimidating wall of water, complete with sharks players can now attach waterskis too, and some players discovered a pretty crazy glitch.

The glitch allowed players to use the edge of the storm to float high above the ground, right up until the end of the match if timed right. The glitch can be seen in all its glory in the clip below. One player sidles a helicopter right up alongside the edge of the storm as its closing in. Once it stops, he directs his teammates to trust him and hop off.

They do exactly that and just float there, high up in the air, out of harm’s reach from almost everybody. This is why not everyone is as enamored with the glitch as the three players above. While some have used it to lay claim to a higher finishing spot in a match, others have lost out on wins because of it. There have even been reports of players using it in competitive play too.

That’s due to the fact that there have been instances of players taking advantage of the same glitch using boats instead of helicopters. Now that the storm is no longer made of water, there’s a chance the glitch has subsided with it. There’s no way of knowing until you give it a try, though. Be warned, if the glitch is gone, or not pulled off to perfection, it’s a long way down.
