Fortnite will broadcast films from director Christopher Nolan in-game on Friday, June 26, following the announcement in late May.

As Nolan’s Tenet will release in late July, Fortnite plans to get players excited for the film by premiering “one of three full-length Christopher Nolan feature films depending on your region!”

The Fortnite Twitter account’s announcement Tweet can be seen below, along with a link to the Party Royale event.

The movie schedule shows three Christopher Nolan films, including Inception, Batman Begins, and The Prestige. As implied, one of these is shown by region. For instance, Inception will be shown in the United States at 6:00 PM MDT, while The Prestige will air in the United Kingdom at 10:00 AM MDT.

It’s unclear as to why only one of the films will show in each region, as it seems as though showing multiple Nolan films would drum up maximum excitement for Tenet. However, Inception, Batman Begins, and The Prestige are nonetheless three of the celebrated director’s best films, and a free showing of them in Fortnite is one bargain deal.

Further, Nolan’s library of classics is certainly not limited to these three. The Dark Knight is often considered the best Batman film ever made, while The Dark Knight Rises expanded on the world established in the previous two films. Meanwhile, Dunkirk received tons of praise upon release for superb direction and terrific performances. We have yet to see if Tenet will dethrone the best of Nolan’s works.

While the movies are being shown in anticipation of Tenet, premiering these films also helps players adhere to social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic that is still ongoing. Moreover, Tenet’s screening in theaters will vary by region as well, according to how far along they are in the reopening process.

Fortnite’s Party Royale event isn’t limited to Christopher Nolan movie showings, however. A number of concerts will also occur, including appearances from Noah Cyrus, Thomas Wesley, and Young Thug. As such, the game has drawn attention from fairly high places and has reached a cultural status beyond competing esports titles. It has also become a game meant for socializing and engaging in communal experiences together, which is especially important in this period of time.
