Fortnite’s latest Season 10 teases appear to be hinting at time travel as it asks players to look forward and back.
We are slap bang in the middle of an incredibly busy few days for Fortnite. Over the weekend, the massively popular battle royale game held its first-ever World Cup in New York City. The event was a huge success, and on Sunday night, Bugha was crowned Fortnite’s first solo World Cup winner, taking home a cool $3 million in the process.
No time to sit back and smell the flowers for Epic, though. The World Cup might have gone swimmingly, but later this week will mark the beginning of Fortnite Season 10. With only two days left of Season 9, it is still unclear what the tenth season of Fortnite will revolve around. Epic has started to drop hints now that the World Cup is done and dusted, though.
The tease began in the same place that it usually does, on Twitter. On Sunday evening, an image of Dusty Depot was posted on Fortnite’s account. The image has a purple-blue hue and a large X in the background, presumably because this will be Fortnite’s tenth season. However, Dusty Depot became Dusty Divot a long time ago. The caption with the pic, “Think Back,” implies time travel could play a part in the upcoming season.
Fortnite’s second tease came at 10 am EST today and features something we have definitely not seen before. The silhouette of a pretty intimidating looking robot/monster. The caption with this pic, “Think Forward.” Curiouser and curiouser. Season 9 gave Fortnite Island a much more futuristic feel. Perhaps in Season 10, we will literally be traveling into the future, and possibly the past.
Despite the tireless efforts of data miners, Epic somehow manages to keep its new season plans under wraps for the most part. When Season 10 begins on Thursday, August 1, 2019, most of what we see before us will come as a massive surprise. It’s part of the reason we will love Fortnite ten seasons in, and also how Epic manages to keep a game which mostly happens within the confines of one relatively small island so popular.
