Fortnite fans are still working their ways through the Season 4 Marvel content, but eager dataminers continue their search for hints at the future. Well-regarded leaker HYPEX has now begun sharing a string of leaks concerning the game’s upcoming v14.50, and it seems Epic Games is ready to give its marvelous heroes a break.
Fans of the game are used to its frequent updates and ever-evolving map, but Fortnite took a particularly deep dive into the Marvel Universe this season with a constant influx of Marvel superheroes, villains, and even weapons. Version 14.50 will apparently offer a shift in direction, with the spotlight featuring Fortnite classics, alongside some well-known super villains hailing from the DC Universe.
Gamer and dataminer @HYPEX has tweeted his latest findings and revealed that classic Fortnite skins, like Jonesy and Renegade, will be returning along with newer skins based on iconic DC villains like Poison Ivy and Batman’s arch-nemesis, The Joker. Poison Ivy and the clown prince of crime, Joker, will be featured as part of the Last Laugh Set, while many of the game’s beloved original skins will be returning as purchasable bundles in the shop.
Midas, the nefarious Fortnite villain, will also be getting a share of the spotlight with the new “Midas Rex” outfit. Several new pickaxes will also be entering the rotation, some of which are the “Stuffie Smasher,” a partially de-fluffed stuffed hammer that matches one of the new skins, and the “Tater Pounders,” which may very well be two giant misshapen french fries.
Another particularly noteworthy feature of the upcoming update is a skin designed by renowned Fortnite concept artist/devout, “Shark” (@sharktoofs1). It seems that Version 14.50 will finally be introducing the previously leaked Fortnite Sharktoofs Skin, featuring a character wearing an adorable snuggly hoodie. The outfit features its own pickaxe, the previously mentioned Stuffie Smasher, and allows players to climb to victory at peak comfort.
Some Fortnite players predicted the incoming hop over from Marvel to DC simply citing the fact that Marvel and DC often go hand-in-hand, especially when dealing with big releases (cinematic or otherwise). If Epic Games and Marvel agreed on a sweet crossover deal, it’s only reasonable to expect that Epic may try the same with DC; not to mention that DC and Fortnite have already collaborated.
That being said, these leaks don’t confirm any sort of elaborate narrative presence, like the ongoing Galactus event. So although players can probably expect there to be some tie-ins to Joker and Poison Ivy throughout the Fortnite map, it’s isn’t necessarily true that DC heroes and villains will be getting the same extensive treatment received by Marvel’s X-Men and Avengers.
Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
