A leak connected to Epic’s Fortnite Crew announcement has revealed that The Mandalorian is coming to the island next season.
Fortnite is all about crossover events. It’s one of the many reasons it has managed to find success not only in the video game world but also in mainstream media. Right now, an entire Marvel-themed season is going on. However, that comes to an end next week. Epic will need to come up with something big to keep players interested, and the announcements regarding what it has planned have started to surface.
Epic revealed plans for a long-rumored subscription service earlier today called Fortnite Crew. The subscription will include 1000 V-Bucks per month as well as access to exclusive skins and items. Unlike loot that can be won in Fortnite competitions and tournaments, items awarded to subscribers will never be added to the in-game store at a later date.
Epic likely thought news of Fortnite Crew would keep people busy. However, a leak linked to the announcement has players even more excited. A shot showing off a pile of V-Bucks and what is presumably one of the exclusive skins also features something else. The Mandalorian from the hit Disney+ show of the same name perched atop Fortnite’s Battle Pass logo. Despite no official announcement from Epic, it’s assumed that Mando is coming to Fortnite in season five.
The Star Wars character’s placement has Fortnite fans speculating as to what his role will be next season. Some believe that we are about to get a Star Wars-themed season to replace the Marvel one which is about to come to a close. Others think he will be the season’s lead character, much like Aquaman and Deadpool have been during previous seasons.
Epic may also be planning on making Fortnite players work hard for the Mandalorian skin, as well as what could well be a Baby Yoda back bling. The Child can be seen alongside Mando in the shot above. Both may not be rewarded to players until they level up their Battle Pass to 100. Fortnite players can also watch both seasons of The Mandalorian for free right now. Players who make real money in-game purchases can claim two complimentary months of Disney+.
