It seems that Fortnite is far from done with getting its first round of new content since Season 5 kicked off last week. Fortnite’s Season 5 story trailer set the stage for what was to come this season, and it looks like fans are going to start seeing much more of that new content roll in soon.
Thanks to various Fortnite leakers and dataminers on social media, fans are starting to get an idea of some of the Season 5 cosmetics that will come to the game. Specifically, Fortnite leaker FortTory has shared some leaked assets that point to a western-themed shotgun, a Dragon Breath sniper, and many more new weapons.
Anyone who’s been involved in the Fortnite community knows that leaks are nothing new to the game. Just yesterday, Fortnite leaks revealed a mysterious company called The Order that will most likely be integral to Season 5’s story-related content in the future. A lot of Fortnite news surrounds datamines and leaks, and it’s become commonplace, at this point, for the community to look to dataminers for upcoming news. Now, FortTory on Twitter has shared some of the brand new exotic weapons that will make their way to the game during Season 5.
FortTory tweeted earlier today, saying that a “Shotgun_Western_Athena” reference was found in recent datamine, alluding to a western-style shotgun that has briefly appeared in the hands of Season 5’s NPCs. FortTory also found other shotgun references in the game’s files, including “Shotgun_Swing."
Seeing as Fortnite just saw a buff to shotguns, this may be welcome news for fans of the weapon type. Additionally, FortTory found references to unreleased exotic weapons, such as dualies, SMGs, assault rifles, and a rocket launcher. Of course, these are all still unconfirmed, so there is a very real chance that these weapons won’t make it to the game in Season 5.
Still, these assets were all found within the game’s files, so they’re most likely either coming in Season 5 or being saved for future content updates. Additionally, some of these exotic weapons have winter-themed names, such as the “SMG_Frozen.” That means that some of these weapon files could point to new winter-themed weapons coming to the game later in December. Additionally, these new weapons could be coming to the game to fill the open spots left by some of Fortnite’s recently vaulted weapons, like the revolver and the pump shotgun.
Naturally, players have a lot to look forward to now that Season 4 has come to a close and Season 5 is here. The Season 4 Marvel crossover may not have been every player’s favorite season, but its end-of-season event was still massively popular, as over 15 million players watched the Galactus event that brought Season 4 to an end. Hopefully, many of those players stick around to see what Fortnite Season 5 brings to the table.
Fortnite is free-to-play for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
