Not too long ago, Epic Games officially teased the forthcoming inclusion of Shopping Carts as an item for its wildly popular and successful multiplayer sandbox survival release Fortnite, with many speculating that it means fans will finally be able to use a vehicle of sorts. Since the buggies’ properties have yet to be fully explained, though, many have taken to datamining the title to uncover fresh secrets, with some folks having recently found new Backpack items in the game files, which suggests the developer may be adding some type of specialist capabilities soon.
Several days ago, “TwoEpicBuddies” – that is, the official Twitter account for the YouTubers known as Haubna and Beni – came across nine separate Backpacks in Fortnite’s game files under the names Boost Jump Pack, Carmine Pack, Eye of the Storm Tracker, Glider, Glider Pack, Intel Pack, Medic Pack, Missile Battery, and Test Pack. Following this discovery, the Twitter account dubbed “Fortnite: Battle Royale Leaks” found two pictures of the aforementioned Medic and Intel Pack after a datamine.
As of now, little is known about how or if Epic Games intends to incorporate Backpacks into Fortnite. Nevertheless, descriptions of the Medic Pack and Intel Pack have been found, with the former allowing one to “carry your allies to victory,” suggesting that players can revive or offer health charges to teammates, while the latter will “reveal nearby loot and enemies.”
These explanations of the Medic Pack and Intel Pack possibly point to Backpacks being items offering certain strategic advantages to players in Fortnite Battle Royale. However, as previously mentioned, there’s no telling if they will officially be included down the line, as the Eye of the Storm Tracker was accidentally added and subsequently removed after fans came across it in the game, using it to determine where the next safe zone would spawn.
All things considered, Epic Games’ constant tinkering and refining of Fortnite through its updates has kept players coming back for more, as nearly each week has seen the free-to-play Battle Royale portion of the title receive a fresh item or new Limited Time Modes. Undoubtedly, the introduction of Backpacks would likely cause the fan base to expand even further, for the items would significantly increase the competitive and tactical nature of the game, and provide the players who equip them with more ways to best their opponents.
Fortnite is available now in early access for iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
