It was already leaked ahead of schedule but Epic Games has officially confirmed that The Flash is the latest DC icon to be added to Fortnite as a skin, joining the likes of Batman, Harley Quinn, and Green Arrow. Granted, he doesn’t exactly match up with the hunter theme Season 5 has been running with, which is probably why he’s not a part of the game’s Battle Pass and instead be simply acquired from the in-game item shop.

The Flash Set will be available on Saturday, February 13 at 7pm ET/4pm PT/midnight on February 14 GMT and consist of the the Flash himself, the Speed Force Slashers Pickaxe (two axes shaped like lightning bolts), the Speed Force Back Bling, and the Quick Bite Emote. Epic also notes that this is the Barry Allen Flash who fans will know from the live-action TV series and the Justice League movie, though the outfit appears to a Fortnite original with some slight inspiration from the TV show.

While not the first person to hold the Flash moniker, Barry is arguably the most recognizable and popular iteration of the character. After all, it’s Barry who appears in both the show and Justice League, albeit played by two different actors. He is supposed to be getting his own movie soon, with filming expected to start this spring.

While Flash fans only need to wait a few days to acquire the set, Epic will be holding another one of its tournaments so particularly eager players can get their hands on some of the cosmetics early, much like what Epic did with some Marvel skins like Ghost Rider and Black Widow. Simply titled the Flash Cup, it will take place on Wednesday, February 10 and be a Duos tournament, meaning participants will need a partner. Players will take part in up to 10 matches maximum within a 3-hour window and the top performing Duos in each region will get early access to the Flash skin and back bling.

It’s not especially surprising to see another DC character enter the fray considering Epic and DC appear to have a pretty solid relationship, as evidenced by the Last Laugh bundle that added Joker and Poison Ivy. That said, there are some very noticeable exclusions, namely Superman and Wonder Woman. What’s more, with Chapter 2 Season 4 being centered entirely around Marvel characters, one can’t help but wonder if DC will receive similar treatment later down the line. Season 6’s theme is a complete mystery, though it’s probably too soon for another superhero themed season.

Fortnite is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
