Everyone remembers the final scene of Furious 7, which sees Paul Walker’s tragic death memorialized in a beautiful visual metaphor. After a CGI Walker smiles reassuringly at his on-screen partner Vin Diesel, he drives away down a branching road in a poignantly meta tribute. So, what better way to re-purpose this iconic piece of cinema history than to commemorate some minor gameplay changes in Fortnite Battle Royale?

Fortnite is known by now for it’s regular changes to both the game’s map and the pool of available weapons - it keeps things fresh, and has thus far allowed the global phenomenon to hold on to its title of the biggest game in the world. However, players do have a tendency to miss some of the game’s older assets that are no longer available, which is, of course, where most of the humor of the Furious 7 parody comes into play.

Watch the parody right here (please click through to Reddit if the video doesn’t play for you):

The parody video takes the same music and structure of the Paul Walker scene, but appropriately substitutes the movie’s cars for Fortnite’s All Terain Karts. The Redditor who posted the video, WintrrShadow, also deserves some major credit for perfectly matching the original’s heartfelt eye contact with the blank stare of Fortnite skins; the comedic effect is something to behold.

After the two Fortnite players part ways (on a well-chosen diverging path near the Football Stadium, no less) the camera pans up to the sky and a quick-fire list begins of all the aspects of “Old Fortnite” that the departed Paul Walker-esque Fortnite character represented. Among this list are such classics as the Crossbow, the Jetpack, and, of course, pre-meteor Dusty Depot.

When replays were added to the game a few months ago, the benefits were clear: players could go over footage of their past games and share clips of cool kills, lucky escapes, or interesting things that happened. That said, after viewing a perfectly executed Fast and Furious parody using golf carts, it’s fair to say that the true purpose of Replay mode has been revealed.

Fortnite Battle Royale is free to play now in early access on iOS, PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
