Just yesterday, Epic Games released Update 2.4.0’s patch notes for its action building title, Fortnite, with many fans looking forward to the forthcoming addition of Miniguns in the game’s Battle Royale mode. Now, though, it looks as if fans will have to wait a little while longer until the next update is implemented, as Epic Games has announced that it will be delayed until some lingering bugs and stability issues have been fixed first.
As seen below in the tweet from the official Fortnite Twitter account, Epic Games has offered an explanation on the sandbox survival title’s official Battle Royale subreddit as to why Version 2.4.0 won’t be brought about just yet. According to the post, the company has asserted that one of the main reasons the patch has been delayed is due to the development team’s decision to fix the game’s persistent building glitches. Unfortunately, though, no new date or time has been given for the patch’s release.
The delay for Fortnite’s Update 2.4.0 follows an update last week that caused a rather lengthy period of server downtime across the title’s PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One versions. Epic Games apologized for the long wait, and promised compensation to players in the form of free materials for both the game’s Battle Royale and Save the World modes. However, it’s worth noting that the company previously stated that those freebies will be doled out “sometime after” the 2.4.0 patch.
While many fans will likely be disappointed to learn that Fortnite’s next update is being pushed back, the silver lining here is that Epic Games is finally addressing the building-related bugs that have been plaguing the title for so long. Until those issues have been rectified, however, Epic has decided to revert back to Version 2.2.0’s building bar system in order to make the mechanic operate more smoothly.
Fortnite is available now in early access on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
