Fortnite Season 4 is coming on August 27 and players have been speculating about what the latest theme is likely to be. The most reliable information we saw was from a Twitter account that suggested it would be Marvel-themed. Now, this has been confirmed by a short teaser posted on the official Fortnite Twitter account confirming that Fortnite appears to be turning into Thor-tnite.
This is far from the first time Marvel and Fortnite have collaborated. Previously players have been able to fight off Thanos on two separate occasions and enjoy a residency by Deadpool. Now the latest season trailer suggests Thor is the focus of the action this time around, with a comic-inspired version of the character appearing as the background.
The teaser implies that the entire season is Marvel themed but currently no other details are available beyond speculation. We’re likely to see skins, cosmetics, and in-game items related to Marvel’s characters but as Fortnite’s past season’s show, anything can happen. Some leaks have suggested we’ll see Thor and his hammer as cosmetics, something that seems very plausible in light of this teaser, but we’ll need to wait a little longer for official confirmation of the battlepass details.
While this news is great for Marvel fans, it’s not so great for IOS users. Due to Epic’s lawsuit with the tech giant, Fortnite has been removed from the Apple Store. After Epic tried to circumvent Apple’s 30% app store fees by allowing players to purchase V-Bucks directly from them, Apple removed the app from sale, prompting a clash of lawyers as the two companies attempt to sue each other in their own battle royale. Due to this ongoing legal battle, when Season 3 ends IOS users will no longer be able to play the game, as the new Season content won’t be available to download.
Epic is very much aware of this and is holding an event they are calling the #FreeFortniteCup this weekend. They are hailing it as the last time all platform users will be able to play together and are offering prizes that take shots at Apple.
For players on PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and GeForce Now Season 4 will be released on August 27, 2020. Unfortunately, mobile-only gamers will have to get their Marvel fix from elsewhere.
