TheGrefg has just broken Twitch’s all-time concurrent viewer record with over 745,000 viewers. That number continues to climb, as he counts down the hours until his official Fortnite skin is debuted.
The previous record was also held by TheGrefg, which pulled in massive numbers during Fortnite’s Galactus event. Prior to that, Ninja was the recordholder – making Fortnite a three-time record-breaking game.
TheGrefg’s skin is debuting as part of the Icon Series, which sees popular celebrities and content creators added to the game through the use of purchasable cosmetics. Ninja was among the first to join Fortnite as part of the series, followed by various skins and dances for Lachlan, Marshmello, and even Pokimane.
Despite having well over 6 million followers on Twitch, TheGrefg is a relevantly obscure name throughout most of the English-speaking world. Most people talking about the record-breaking event on Twitter have never heard of the streamer, cracking jokes that Twitch is just “making up” new people for the platform.
However, TheGrefg regularly pulls in thousands of viewers and is without a doubt one of the most popular streamers on Twitch. With about an hour to go until his skin is debuted, TheGrefg’s concurrent viewer count continues to grow – at this rate, he’s going to be pretty close to topping one million.
