Fortnite Battle Royale’s Season 8 is fast approaching, and it looks as if Epic Games has plenty of new content planned for the free-to-play multiplayer shooter in the way of fresh features and aesthetic changes. Today, the studio has continued teasing what’s to come in the game’s next major update by putting out a new piece of concept art that hints players should expect to encounter “beasts” of some kind once the eighth season arrives.
According to the latest teaser for Fortnite Battle Royale Season 8, Epic declares that one will “Awaken beasts / Of fire and ash” and that players will “Battle it out / And loot the stash”. While the latter rhyming lines are par for the course in the game at this point with loot chests, the former has some fans speculating what exactly these “beasts” are going to be.
There are some who have hypothesized that Epic Games will be adding dragons to Fortnite Battle Royale during Season 8, especially with the studio’s latest tease stating there will be “beasts” made of “fire and ash”. Should this be the case, perhaps such giant, fire-breathing lizards will be flying mounts that take the place of the X-4 Stormwing, as the planes are being Vaulted by Epic once the eighth season arrives.
While dragons are a possibility, it’s also worth noting that the latest stages of the Prisoner skin added a while back shows the character being made of “fire and ash”, with his exterior being a dark, dusty rock form and his interior containing lava. This could mean the “fire and ash” reference potentially for more fire-based cosmetics. Plus, the tease comes with concept art that looks like a fanged monster, which could be a further implication that the “beasts” will just be new costumes for players to earn. After all, previous marketing campaigns for Fortnite’s various seasons have primarily highlighted the types of skins fans will be able to acquire.
Taking everything here into account, there’s no telling exactly what Epic Games will be bringing to the table once Fortnite Battle Royale’s Season 8 arrives. Cracks in the map continue to form, so at the very least, the safest bet to make insofar as fresh content is concerned is that environment assets and the playing field will change in some way. When it comes to “beasts” and where to find them in-game, we will simply have to wait and see how they come about in the next couple of days.
Fortnite is available now in early access for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
