The current season of popular battle royale title Fortnite is all about hunters. Following Chapter 2 Season 4’s Marvel Comics crossover, Season 5 has added skins ranging from God of War’s Kratos to Terminator’s Sarah Connor and the cast of The Walking Dead. A bounty system allows players to earn additional rewards by accepting quests from NPCs appearing in various locations.

One of the many bounty hunters appearing as a skin during the current season is Mando, the hero of ongoing Disney+ series The Mandalorian, set in the Star Wars universe. Mando was one of the first crossover skins revealed for Season 5.

Now, Fortnite developer Epic Games has hinted that a special event might be coming, with the armored bounty hunter potentially playing a major role. A six-second video posted to the official Fortnite Twitter account shows Mando receiving a message from another skin, which is currently theorized to be recurring character Fishstick. The tweet reads, “Got a job for you. More info coming soon.”

Fortnite’s previous season ended with a major event, in which players teamed up to defeat the Marvel villain Galactus. The live event, “Devourer of Worlds,” took place on December 1, 2020, although details regarding Galactus were datamined prior to it. At the end of the event, the group of assembled players successfully repelled Galactus, sealing him inside a rift with the assistance of Marvel heroes including Wolverine, Iron Man, and Thor. Following the popularity of “Devourer of Worlds,” in which a record number of players participated, it is possible that Fortnite wants to end the current season with a similar special event.

For players who want to get suited up prior to whatever might be coming, the Mando skin is available to all players who purchase Tier 1 of the season’s Battle Pass, which costs $8 USD. The Battle Pass can also be bought alongside the new Fortnite Crew pack, which costs $12 USD and comes with bonus V-bucks and an exclusive skin. As players progress through higher levels of the Battle Pass they can also unlock Beskar Challenges, which will unlock new pieces of armor made from a nearly impenetrable ore also known as “Mandalorian iron.” Beskar Steel can be found hidden throughout the game, including one piece located “in the belly of the shark.”

In addition to the character’s iconic armor, players can wield Mando’s rifle and travel around the map using his jet pack. They can even bring fan-favorite character Grogu (aka Baby Yoda) along for the ride as a Back Bling, although the Back Bling has caused problems with visibility for some players. Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 is estimated to continue until mid-March, and the theme for Season 6 has not yet been announced.

Fortnite is available now on Mobile, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
