It’s been a busy week in Fortnite capped off by players discovering the fate of the Ice Sphere in the sky. As part of the next week, Epic Games has released the patch notes for update 7.20 and it has some surprising news for Battle Royale players. While fans got a heads up about the Quad Launcher being vaulted this week, it turns out that Epic Games placed a few more items inside the vault as well.

As detailed in the latest weekly update post on the Epic Games website, Fortnite is losing three items from Battle Royale for the foreseeable future. In addition to the powerful Quad Launcher, the Port-A-Fortress and Grappler items have also been thrown into the vault. Unfortunately for fans, the post didn’t provide any reasons as to why those items were chosen or if either of them will be making a return at some point.

Port-A-Fortress was introduced in September of last year and while the item resembles the Port-A-Fort, it was more substantial, quickly generating a massive castle structure with plenty of jump pads for allies to use. Now, the Fortress joins the Fort inside of the vault.

On the other hand, the community seems split on the Grappler, an item that drastically increased mobility by pulling players in any direction within a certain proximity. While many are furious the item is now gone, it may be due to a potential exploit that a member of FaZe Clan found just a few days ago. Either way, many are expecting some sort of new item to boost player mobility and replace the Grappler.

Earlier this week, the long-rumored Ice Event finally kicked off after the Ice King appeared and cast a spell over the entire island. Now, the map is fully covered in snow, fog, and ice with zombie creatures lurking everywhere as well. Naturally, this new event also has special challenges tied to it including dealing with the new Ice Fiends around the map. Similar to the cube monsters from last year, these creatures can be found all around the map and killing them provides the player with better loot and gear than normal. Keep in mind that they can be a handful when also dealing with nearby enemy players so make sure the coast is clear before engaging with them.

Fortnite is available now in early access for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
