Microsoft’s latest Steam release, Forza Horizon 4, has hit the ground running. The racing game hit Steam on March 9 and immediately shot up the top-seller charts. Within 24 hours of being available, the game became one of the most-played racing games on the platform. That is an amazing feat, especially considering the game has been out for three years.

Forza’s official Twitter handle shared its awe at the game’s Steam success by thanking fans; “Leave it to the Forza community to blow us away once again.” By March 11, the game had hit more than 20,000 peak concurrent users according to Steam. That is more than recent releases like Cyberpunk 2077 and Red Dead Redemption 2. While the game barely misses the top 50 list of most popular games on Steam, it does remain in the top 10 for best-sellers overall on the platform.

Originally released for Xbox One and PC back in 2018, Forza Horizon 4 has always proven to be a popular title. In its first year it accumulated over 12 million players and become one of the most popular racing games available. This Steam release is the first time a game from the series has ever launched on the platform. With the success it has already garnered, it is likely that future entries in the franchise will copy this move.

Though, this success doesn’t come without some bumps. While the game is proving popular for players on Steam, it does have some pretty mixed reviews. Currently, the game holds only 69% positive reviews posted on Steam. The top review, which is deemed as “most helpful” by the community, warns that the game is overpriced and has a lot of bugs or issues with the port.

Microsoft has been working hard to bring their games to more places than ever before. Besides Forza, Microsoft has already released big titles like Halo 4, Sea of Thieves, and Gears 5 on Steam. It also has plans to bring many first-party games, like Halo Infinite, to the platform. This is something they haven’t done since the simultaneous console-PC release of Halo 2.

So far, there isn’t any news on another entry into the Forza franchise. With Forza 4’s revival on Steam, it may push the developer to get another title out there, but only time will tell. For now, you can get the standard edition of Forza 4 for $59.99 or the deluxe for $79.99 on Steam.
