Aptly named Legends, a new DLC will be coming free to Ghost of Tsushima resplendent with multiplayer co-op, allowing up to four players to enjoy story and survival missions together.
If anyone thought the hype and praise for Sucker Punch’s latest hit was over, think again. Like the legend of the Tsushima island samurai itself – this story has only just begun.
The various legends seem to have been true, as this new DLC announcement has taken the video game industry by storm in a sweeping bout of anticipation. As arguably one of the most successful releases of 2020, Ghost of Tsushima has already proven itself to be a well-paced adventure with an open world as luscious as the historically-inspired narrative that bolsters it. Yet, now with free co-op functionality for all players, Sucker Punch has set the bar even higher.
The Ghost of Tsushima: Legends DLC will feature four different class types in its multiplayer co-op mode. There is a Hunter, Assassin, Ronin, and Samurai – each of which will have their own special abilities. Taken at face value and judging by the announcement trailer, the Hunter will utilize a bow for more long-range attacks, whereas the Assassin will most likely focus more on stealth-based combat. As for the differences between Ronin and Samurai – given their seemingly indistinguishable similarities, aside from the former having no master – it may simply come down to their preferred weapon type.
Sony gave zero mention as to when fans may expect this new content, other than a mere Fall 2020 debut. With plenty of questions remaining even after the game’s conclusion, there could very well be more single-player content to come from Sucker Punch. It’s highly doubtful that the upcoming DLC will push forward any mainline story elements due to its “haunting and fantastical” setting based on Japanese folklore. However, that doesn’t rule out extra single-player content from Sucker Punch later down the road.
With the release of next-gen consoles looming, there is still much to be hyped-up for on the now-aging PS4 platform. It’s only fitting for Sucker Punch to initiate the decade with a groundbreaking title like inFamous and end it with something truly spectacular, topping it off with free DLC. Although the decade may be coming to its close with a new generation of hardware, Ghost of Tsushima clearly isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
Time to dust off the old katana, unfasten that 13th-century armor, and find three extra friends in time for the Legends DLC this Fall.
