It’s hard to believe its been two years since CD Project released Gwent: The Witcher Card Game. A spin-off from the Witcher RPG series, the title capitalizes on the popularity of the Witcher 3’s in-universe card game Gwent. Expanding on the Gwent formula, Gwent: The Witcher Card Game adds much more variety to its deck-building and gameplay. Now a fifth expansion for the title has been announced, adding 70 new cards to the roster.

The free expansion will be called Master Mirror, and is based on one of the Witcher’s 3’s finest villains, Gaunter O’Dimm. Also known as the Master Mirror or the Man of Glass, Gaunter is a mysterious figure in the Witcher 3. So mysterious in fact that it’s difficult to talk about him without approaching spoiler territory.

The 70 cards in the expansion will also use seven brand new mechanics:

  • Veil: Prevents units from gaining status effects. Rupture: Damages a unit equal to its own power. Devotion: Triggers a special ability if the deck has no neutral cards. Echo: Returns the card from the graveyard to the top of its owners deck at the start of the round. Then makes it Doomed. Veteran: Increases the base power of unit by 1 at the start of the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Conspiracy: Triggers and makes the card’s ability stronger when targeting a Spying unit.

While the Master Mirror expansion is free for Gwent players on all platforms, CD Projekt is also selling a number of pre-order packages that offer cosmetic items and card-kegs.

Gwent is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, as well as iOS and Android mobile devices.
