Free RPG Day - organized by Gaming Days - will reportedly be happening on July 25th this year, and there’s a nice juicy list of RPG products that will be available for you for free in participating stores.
Free RPG Day was originally meant to take place in June, as it has in the past, but of course thanks to the usual uncertainties induced by COVID-19 this year, the organizers were forced to push the date back a bit.
Of course, the event’s regular attendees are wondering if everything will be held digitally for the same reasons. According to a post on the Free RPG Day Facebook page, however, all that was said in response to one such query was the following:
Free RPG Day is a collaborative effort between Gaming Days and over 500 hobby game stores all over the world to drum up excitement about and participation in new RPGs within local communities around those stores. RPG-lovers, publishers, and retailers all get to share in the good times together on “the ultimate day of RPG gaming.” Part of that involves some tasty free giveaways, too.
The kits are physical products like they have always been. This is an event designed to drive traffic to local stores. While things will be different this year in terms of how stores handle their events due to the COVID-19 situation we still expect the event to bring local players and stores together.
The free RPG products available generally include “exclusive printed content [such as RPG adventures, quick-start guides, and accessories] for a wide variety of tabletop roleplaying games.” This year’s product lineup is available for your perusal now, courtesy of a considerable range of participating publishers. Said publishers change yearly, this time including the following who will be providing each store with over 100 items to give away:
9th Level Games, Army Painter, Cubicle 7, Dave Taylor Miniatures & Mantic Games, Fantasy Flight Games, Gatekeeper Games, Goodman Games, Hit Point Press, Magpie Games, Oni Games, Paizo, Q-Workshop, Renegade Game Studios, Roll 20, and Wizkids.
You can have a look at the full list of actual products to be made available by these guys here. And you can find further information on how to participate (whether you’re a gamer, publisher, or retailer) on their website.
